Batman is bringing home the bacon for Warner Bros. after the company announce that Batman: Arkham City has sold upwards of 4.6 million units worldwide after its launch last week. According the publisher, the game has sold more than double the units of its predecessor- Batman: Arkham Asylum – in the same time period. Interestingly, the game also stands as the highest reviewed console title of 2011, according to Metacritic averages.
Rocksteady Studios game director Sefton Hill is naturally delighted by the critical and commerical reaction: “The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community.”
It looks like Arkham City has landed the first major blow in the winter title-rush, but how will the likes of Uncharted 3, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Battlefield 3 fair in comparison, especially with industry behemoth Modern Warfare 3 lying in wait?
