The newest playable character of Injustice: Gods Among Us is a character currently undergoing a renaissance in his monthly comic series. Aquaman, who seems to have been the biggest beneficiary of DC Comics‘ “New 52” reboot, is the latest character to be added to the roster of Injustice: Gods Among Us, a fighting game coming to the Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360 from Mortal Kombat developers Netherrealm. The latest trailer shows brief flashes of Aquaman in action against Joker and Flash, as well as getting a bit more of the game’s story as he defects from the Justice League‘s tyrannical rule and aligns himself with Batman.
For those unfamiliar with the game’s story, five years after a terrible tragedy befalls Superman‘s home city of Metropolis, the Justice League have taken control of the planet, saying it’s for humanity’s own good. Batman finds himself having to take the League down.
Aquaman will most likely be a part of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Arena, where fans vote on who wins in hero vs. hero, hero vs. villain, and villain vs. villain battles for the chance to win prizes from DLC to a collector’s edition of the game.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to release on April 16th. Check back here frequently for more Injustice news, as well as our review once the game hits stores.
