As for the reason why Amazon has done so, that news hasn’t surfaced just yet.
There have been rumors that Amazon is planning on releasing its own gaming console that runs on Android, like the Ouya. This joins a other news that spreads fire to a whole movement: phone- and tablet-makers making video game consoles.
