Side-scrolling shooters, while just as much fun as the large-scale first-person cinematic shooters, haven’t gotten the attention that their more big budget cousins have received in recent years. When one comes along, it’s worth at least a look. Developer Ludosity and Publisher Reef Entertainment are bringing a new side-scrolling shooter to the Nintendo eShop, and they’ve been generous enough to give us a few screenshots of their new game Alien Chaos 3D, and they’re definitely worth a look.
Somewhat of a sequel to the Xbox Live Arcade title Mama and Son: Clean House, this game uses similar gameplay mechanics to that one: the pair of cleaners must clear rooms of aliens and grime, but all of the ammo must be recycled by sweeping up your used shells. Releasing this summer to the European 3DS eShop, the game features an expansive set of weapons, ranging from the simple “Peashooter” to the “Explosive Flaming Chainsaw Shotgun.” Players can blast through 5 chapters, or 30 levels, and 5 boss encounters, facing swarms of “animal robot aliens” including robo-frogs, robo-boxing kangaroos, rocket spiked hedgehogs, and most likely a few other enemies that could have appeared in any game from the Sega Genesis.
In the screenshots below, you can see the kinds of enemies and environment you’ll face in the game.
Alien Chaos 3D is set for a Summer 2012 release, with no word of a release outside of the UK. For more, visit Developer Ludosity’s website.
