The public will get their first taste of Crysis 3 when the multiplayer goes to open beta later this month. Crytek says the Crysis 3 open multiplayer beta will hit the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 on January 29th with two modes and two maps.
In Hunter Mode, two teams face off in a team deathmatch with a twist. One side is made up of permanently-cloaked “Hunters,” while the other side is made up of troops trying to survive until they get extracted. It’s almost like Predator, only with no Jesse Ventura and a lot more Predators.
Crash Site Mode sounds like an incredibly fun “King of the Hill” experience: basically there are random spots on the map that your team needs to capture and hold, with the addition of a walking death machine called a “Pinger” at each location that can be hijacked by your opponents.
The two maps are Museum and Airport, which are pretty self-explanatory.
You’ll be able to customize your character and work your way to level 10. Xbox Live users will need a Gold account to access the beta. We don’t have word on when it will end, but Crysis 3 comes out on February 19th, so obviously it will wrap up before then.
