In Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel The Hunger Games (and in the forthcoming film based on it), 24 “tributes” enter a televised event where there can be only one survivor. Lionsgate has announced that with only about 24 days left until the film adaptation’s release that fans will get the chance to attend one of 24 advance screenings, sponsored by NOOK by Barnes & Noble. Lionsgate has brought on twelve district sponsors to each host two of these advance screenings and offer 24 fans the chance to win a pair of tickets.
Just like the tributes in the story had to impress potential sponsors, Lionsgate is encouraging fans to impress their district sponsors by visiting Screenings.TheHungerGamesMovie.com and tweeting a unique hashtag assigned to their closest city. Staring tomorrow, the top four cities with the highest Twitter volume will be announced each day giving fans a chance to enter and possibly win tickets to those locations.
Also, if you’re in the market for an eReader and are a Hunger Games fan, you can also score some tickets by purchasing any of Barnes & Noble’s NOOK devices. On March 10, the first customers to purchase either a NOOK Tablet, NOOK Color or NOOK Simple Touch at select Barnes & Nobles locations will receive two complimentary tickets to the March 21 advance screening (while supplies last of course). You can find out which stores are participating by going here: www.nook.com/hungergames.
The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, is based on the first novel in Suzanne Collins’ best selling young adult sci-fi trilogy. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. Its told from the perspective of sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen (portrayed in the film by Jennifer Lawrence) as she takes part in the eponymous “Hunger Games”, representing one of twelve districts in a fight for survival.
