Bubble Island, Monster World and Diamond Dash. These are three titles you will be seeing on the Google+ game marketplace, as the list of games for Google+ continues to grow. What has your attitude towards social games been in the past? Has it changed, will you give Monster World a shot? How about Bubble Island – that game looks exactly like Bust-A-Move so it’s probably alright. Having a vague idea of what social-network games are, I’m still not interested in them. But where there’s money to be made, the games will surely come. I certainly can’t deny the success of social-network games. Farmville is a financial success a hundred times over, and whether or not you or I like it – social-network games are here to stay. So maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to write them off. I know there are things like CivWorld around, social games that come from ‘hardcore’ franchises. But ultimately even those titles feel stripped down to the point where you’re losing most of the enjoyment that you know to expect from the franchise, and the bonus of being able to spam your friends with your latest and greatest achievements is not exactly a bonus to me.
