Nintendo announced that the release of the Super NES Classic Edition. The mini console, similar to the wildly popular NES Classic from late last year will be released on September 29th. As many of us found out from the NES Classic, the SNES Classic will be a hot item and supplies will assuredly be short. The console is going to be priced at $79.99.
The previously rumored SNES Classic comes packaged with 21 titles, including Star Fox 2, a game that had been long talked about but never previously released. This addition will further drive up demand for the collectors item.

The SNES Classic boasts quite an impressive lineup that will drive demand through the roof. Possibly learning from the murmurs from the NES Classic release, the SNES Classic comes bundled with two wired SNES controllers; rather than the one for the NES Classic. Additionally, another change for the SNES Classic is that it will also come with an AC adapter.
Nintendo also announced that the equivalent version of the console will be released in Japan, the Mini Super Famicom. The Mini Super Famicom is based on the original design that was available in both Japan and Europe and comes with a slightly different set of games.
In Japan the Mini Super Famicom will come with the following additional games as well as the game they replace from the SNES Classic lineup:
- Panel de Pon (replaces EarthBound)
- Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem (replaces Kirby’s Dream Course)
- Ganbare Goemon: The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (replaces Street Fighter II Turbo)
- Super Soccer (replaces Castlevania IV)
- Super Street Fighter II (replaces Super Punch-Out!!)
Based on the limited run of the NES Classic, the SNES Classic will more than likely have a similar unit run before it is discontinued so if you are wanting to get your hands on it plan ahead. Prepare to refresh those inventory pages and camp out in line because supply will be limited and they won’t last long.
