Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed Until 2018

Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed until spring 2018.

Originally set to launch later this year, Rockstar said the delay will give them more time to polish the highly-anticipated sequel. “This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans,” said the company in a blog post.

To help ease the pain, the company provided several new screenshots, available in the gallery below. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the sequel to 2010’s critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption. The series takes a lot of the systems and mechanics from the Grand Theft Auto series and adapts them to the Old West setting. The first game followed John Marston on a quest for amnesty from crimes he committed in the past. Rockstar has been tight lipped regarding the story for the sequel. While Rockstar has been quiet, an alleged leak claims the game is a prequel and set in the same world as the Mafia series.

Like the previous game, Red Dead Redemption 2 has only been confirmed for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Change.org petition with over 55,000 signatures begs Rockstar for a PC release. Rockstar said they will reveal more details about the game this summer. Keep checking in with The Game Fanatics for all the latest news.
