As mentioned in Ubisoft’s earnings report, as well as reported by GameSpot, South Park: The Fractured but Whole is being delayed. Again. The game will now launch sometime between April 2017-March 2018.
Given the nature of South Park’s production cycle, as well as a clear tendency for the title to not be rushed, we’ll see the game hit shelves when its ready and not a second before.
The Fractured Butt Whole is the follow-up to 2014’s The Stick of Truth, which we really liked! That, too, had its own problems with delays and development to the point that the television series even mocked said issues. Still, as we all know, a delayed game is a game that will be good, so we’re going to have to find a way to be patient for just a little while longer.
Originally announced in 2015, the game is being developed by Ubisoft San Francisco. It was originally set to launch this Spring for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Sadly, that’s not the case. This undoubtedly the work of Professor Chaos.
I’ll look forward to playing The Fractured but Whole On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox 720-2S in 2020, with the rumored Nintendo port coming two years down the line before it quietly gets cancelled.
