Upcoming Games

A new month arrives and with it, a brand new list of hot titles. Check our Top Upcoming Games for September and get into the action!

The good thing about videogames is that they do not care about seasons or months of the year. They just keep on appearing! Summer may be moving into autumn already but the list of hot games keeps on adding interesting titles to our libraries and play rooms. For The Game Fanatics this means we look over the next 4 weeks to see what’s in stock.

Remastered versions such as The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Edition or Bioschock: The Collection get their own place in our September list. There’s also space for smaller jewels, such as Inafune’s ReCore and for big AAA wonders, like as Destiny’s fourth expansion, Rise of Iron. The end of the month brings also something for sporty fellas: FIFA 17 and Forza Horizon 3 are coming full-on for all soccer and car lovers out there.

The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Edition

The Elder Scrolls Online

This edition will sure delight those players who had not discovered the vast world of Tamriel just yet. The Elder Scrolls VI is not coming anytime soon but you may want to plunge into a different side of the story, knowing that Bethesda keeps on feeding their game with frequent seasonal updates until this day.

Bioshock: The Collection

It’s time to come back to Rapture and Columbia! And what could possibly be better than revisiting the original Bioshock series than doing it on a remastered version in 1080p? Bioshock: The Collection comes with all the single-player content of the three games (Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite) plus all DLC to bring you a truly revamped experience. It does not matter whether you are new to the series or a seasoned veteran. 2K Games has promised we’ll (re)discover the franchise in a brand new light. If you are new to Bioshock, this purchase is probably a wise one!

What happens when you wake up in a far-away colony after centuries in cryo-sleep and nothing has gone according to plan? That you get a hold of your Corebot companions and you start kicking ass, of course. Destiny: Rise of Iron

Destiny Rise of Iron

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: September 20

Destiny fans, behold the next major expansion of your favorite game! Rise of Iron is all about becoming the next generation of Iron Lords and stopping the thread posed by an enemy race called the Fallen. This content expansion adds a new campaign, new missions, more PvE and PvP locations, tons of player gear, weaponry and a new raid. On top of that, players will experience a new PvP mode, Supremacy: a 6vs6 match, in which players score points for their team by collecting crests dropped by killed enemy players. Unlike the previous games and content expansions, Rise of Iron arrives exclusively for last-gen consoles.

If you have never tried the Destiny series, you better keep track of Destiny: The Collection, which comes the same very day and includes all the content released until now, Rise of Iron included.

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade

Warhammer Eternal Crusade
Platforms:
 PC
Release Date: September 23

It’s time for big sci-fi warfare! Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade comes strong and ready to plunge followers and curious alike into a massive galactic conflict. Developed as a 3rd person online shooter, the next installment of the series follows the atmosphere and gameplay mechanics of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. The family of playable races gets a tad bigger with the inclusion of Orks, Space Marines, Eldar and Chaos Space Marines – all of them with their specific lot of classes, of course.

Eternal Crusade brings procedurally-created dungeons and survival game modes in PvE, while keeping a competitive PvP mode, gathering up to 30 players per side. It’s quite possible that the developers will keep on adding other races from the universe, such as the Tau and Dark Eldar. So stay tuned for those!

Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3
Platforms:
 PC, Xbox One
Release Date: September 27

Forza Horizon 3 wants to revitalize the racing genre and while at it, they take us to the untamed Australian landscape. In a sort of plot twist, this Forza Horizon is not about competing in the Horizon Festival but about taking care of it. We are the bosses and as such, we can hire or fire racers or even organize and make our own race tracks. Forza Horizon 3 is all about cars, epic music and freedom on the road. The game comes within the Play Anywhere program, allowing cross-play between Xbox One and PC. With around 350 total vehicles by its launch (Halo’s Warthog included), this is by far the biggest Forza Horizon ever seen.

FIFA 17

FIFA 17
Platforms:
PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One
Release Date: September 27

This one does not need introductions or presentations. Like every new year, say hello to EA’s top soccer game, FIFA 17. If you think there’s nothing new under the sound for this franchise, think again. We are even talking here about narrative background and dialogue choices!

The game is the first one of the series in using the Frosbite engine and among some of the novelties in the list, you will find enhanced attacking techniques, physical player overhaul and an improved AI. FIFA 17 is also bringing a single-player story campaign, called The Journey. In this mode we’ll play as Alex Hunter, a young professional in search of glory. We’ll select one of 20 Premier League clubs and see his career bloom. And do not miss this, this story mode will also feature a dialogue wheel, similar to that one of Mass Effect.

XCOM 2

XCOM 2
Platforms:
 PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Release Date: September 27

XCom 2 saw the light on February 5 but only for PC users. It’s about time that console gamers get the monkey of their backs! 2K Games is bringing the fight against the alien overlords to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and giving quite a luring incentive for preordering. If you do so, you will unlock the Resistance Warrior Pack, which includes additional soldier customization options like bonus outfits, headgear and custom facial war paint, as well as a Survivor of the Old War, a new XCOM recruit.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice

Sonic Boom

Platforms: Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: September 27

We finish our list with a 3DS crazy game, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice. Originally scheduled for fall 2015, the next Sonic adventure has taken extra time for polishing up. According to Sega, the game comes full-on to make up for the shortcomings of the latest game of the franchise, Shattered Crystal. Fire & Ice brings all the good things of a fast-paced side-scrolling platform adventure, featuring multiple playable characters and crazy skills. On the new side of life, the game adds fire and ice as elements, both for the environments and the character abilities, boosting the possibilities of finishing levels.

If you like Sonic and feel like celebrating 25 years of speedy adventures, this may be the right game for you!

Paving the Way for a Crazy October

And that’s pretty much it for the month of September. It may look a tad empty and that may be true. It does come overall less packed than October but only because October would be rather hard to beat. A quick look over the title list for that month leaves us with a bad feeling about our wallets. Battlefield 1, Mafia 3, Gears of War 4, The Last Guardian, Titanfall 2, Civilization 6 are only but a few of those in the pipeline.

What about you? Are you looking forward to some September games, are you trying to catch up with some old classics or are you waiting for future releases? Let us know in the comment section down below!
