As good as E3 2016 was, there’s always a slew of games that never make it to the big show. While some of these games may be further along than others, it’s always something special when you see new footage debut on the big screen. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire so i wouldn’t be surprised if within the next 12 months all of these titles make it to an E3 or other trade show, but for now let’s hope they won’t be missing in action for long.
Shenmue 3
We know Yu Suzuki and the talented team at YS Net are hard at work on this hotly anticipated sequel but we can’t help but to kick and scream. It would have been incredible to see a live gameplay demo of what they’ve been working on or a new trailer. Looks like we’ll have to wait until next E3 for anything substantial, although I’m willing to bet we’ll get something solid at Sony’s PSX later this year.
Crackdown 3
Crackdown 3 is looking to blow the doors open on Microsoft’s ambitious cloud-powered technology. From what we’ve seen thus far, the near limitless destructive environments look vastly impressive and supposedly only possible via the power of the cloud. We just hope this no-show doesn’t skip Gamescom or we’ll have to wait for E3 2017.
Red Dead 3
There are rumblings that indicate Red Dead 3 was scheduled for an appearance at this year’s E3 but was subjected to a late scratch. We don’t know what the full story is but apparently this game is in fact real and is going to be revealed in the very near future. Either way, it was a game many of us were hoping for but we didn’t get. We almost did though.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
It could be that Square Enix doesn’t want to divert attention away from Final Fantasy 15 which releases in about 2 months. We were given a decent sized bite at last year’s PSX but we all want more. We could see a big blowout at E3 2017 but I’ll be banking on another gameplay slice at PSX, maybe even at TGS if we’re lucky enough.
Agent
This is probably the last time I’ll ever mention this game in an article. It has become myth now. Strangely enough, so did The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy 7 Remake but this feels pretty nonexistent. For crying out loud, the game still has a PS3 logo on it if you look through Rockstar’s official website. I think it’s dead but you never know. E3 has become a place of miracles and it wouldn’t surprise me if it resurfaced at any one of these keynotes but for now, I think it’s time to put it to rest.
