Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Season Pass Content Features Two Story Expansions

For those of you itching to get more action out of Lara in Rise of the Tomb Raider, two narrative expansions are on the horizon to satisfy that craving.

This past week during the Games Awards Show, Xbox and Crystal Dynamics showed off some footage for Rise of the Tomb Raider’s first major expansion titled “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch.” Core details surrounding this expansion have yet to be revealed, but we know Lara will be faced with new foes, explore new tombs and puzzles, and uncover an ancient evil. You can catch the mystical trailer below.

Rise of the Tomb Raider’s “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch” will be coming in early 2016 as part of the game’s Season Pass. It’ll also be available to download separately. To hold you over until then, Endurance Mode will be arriving on December 29th. Acting as a bit of a survivalist mode detached from the main campaign, this new mode will see Lara surviving harsh weather conditions and fierce enemies while scavenging the wild for supplies and aid. Aptly put, “you start with nothing and must find everything.”

Beyond that, there’s a second narrative expansion planned to arrive later in 2016 as well. Dubbed “Cold Darkness Awakened,” this second expansion will involve Lara’s attempt at putting an end to a mysterious affliction set loose from a dormant Cold War weapons research facility. You can expect new enemies and more puzzles all the while.

The rest of the Season Pass content isn’t quite as grand, but offers plenty of small bonuses to fans of the game. There’s expedition card packs, new outfits for Lara, and a batch of new weapon skins. On that note, each of the three expansions outlined above will include one new outfit and weapon as well. Go ahead and check out the rest of the DLC content below for Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Expedition Card Packs

  • Silver Expedition Card Pack – A set of 5 Expedition Cards, guaranteed to contain at least one Uncommon Card.
  • Gold Expedition Card Pack – A set of 5 Expedition Cards, guaranteed to contain at least one Rare Card.
  • Advantage Expedition Card Pack – A set of 5 Expedition Cards, each of which will give Lara a distinct advantage while playing. Perfect for those looking for a little edge.
  • Challenge Expedition Card Pack – A set of 5 Expedition Cards, each of which inflicts a restriction on Lara or another modifier that makes gameplay more difficult. Overcome challenges to earn bonus credits.
  • Wild Expedition Card Pack – A set of 5 Expedition Cards, each of which will have a highly unique impact on gameplay. Who knows what creative, crazy, or even Rare Cards are within?

New Outfits & Weapon Skins

  • The Siberian Ranger Pack (available to download now) – Includes the “Siberian Ranger” outfit which increases Lara’s carrying capacity of all special ammunition, the “Accipiter Nox” Semi-Automatic Pistol skin, and a card pack with two guaranteed rare cards and three other cards that have an increased chance at being rare.
  • The Prophet’s Legacy Pack (coming in 2016) – Includes the “Immortal Guardian” outfit that reduces Lara’s damage from Greek Fire, the “Piercing Truth” dagger and a card pack with two guaranteed rare cards and three other cards that have an increased chance at being rare.
  • The Ancient Vanguard Pack (coming in 2016) – Includes the “Ancient Vanguard” outfit that reduces the delay before Lara regenerates her health, the “Guiding Light” Bow skin and a card pack with two guaranteed rare cards and three other cards that have an increased chance at being rare.
  • The Wilderness Survivor Pack (coming in 2016) – Includes the “Nightshade” outfit that gives Lara the chance of looting an exotic animal resource from a common animal, the “Deathsong” Bloody Hatchet and a card pack with two guaranteed rare cards and three other cards that have an increased chance at being rare.
