Lots of people say that they were raised on television, told to believe that they will one day become; millionaires, movie gods and rock stars. I on the other hand was raised on Video games. Which in my opinion taught me some very unique skills and morale codes to live my life on. And just in case you weren’t brought up by video games, since you had responsible and loving parents (which is totally overrated by the way). Then here’s a few gems of gaming knowledge to get your through the years.
Knowledge: Gaming always has a few gems of knowledge to educate the gamer. Sometimes its buried under ;Battlefields of Bullet Shells, Barrel throwing Apes, Rapid Hedgehogs or a Yellow circle running away from ghosts eating marshmallows, keys and Cherries. But trust me its definitely there. To be honest with you, your more likely to gain wisdom from gaming then you are from television.
Gaming Knowledge 1#: Determination, don’t fall at the first hurdle
- Gaming has taught us the values of determination. Through onslaughts of Historically demised undead, armies of mutants who look a lot like the offspring of Rose O’Donnell and Margaret Thatcher and Hoards of Chubby guys with Mustaches…God there the worst. Villains gave us the opportunity to try and fail, which intern thought us that there’s no shame in the Restart button. We will fail so many times through our lives, gaming has just thought us that as long as you ‘Retry’ then you’ll get there.
Gaming Knowledge 2#: Teamwork and Strategy go a lot further then going Rambo
- Gaming has taught us strategy: Game Plans are always key if your going to make it as a gamer, and it helps to have game plans in life. You go on any army game with the idea that your Rambo, and you can run through like a one man army. Shooting down every opponent like your Scarface on Cocaine. But soon enough your getting your face blown off by a Spaz 12 and gang tea bagged. But if you learn to use teamwork and intelligence to out wit your opponent, set traps and use a game plan to take out your enemy. Then you can become a Bad ass that survives more then 5 seconds. Now in real life I’m not telling you to get your friends to set up a trap to ‘Take out’ any person you dislike, because people get fired when they shoot there boss in the ass (Taken from personal experience). But just look on each of life obstacles with a little more integrity
Gaming Knowledge 3#: If one of the surreal futures of a game ever came to reality, Gamers will all have the experience of gaming to help them survive
- Gaming has taught us random pieces of information that most likely will never help us, but we like to think it will one day: This gem may seem weird, but my momma always said better safe then sorry…Actually she said ”Why do you have to stand there like that” but I knew what she meant. Look at it this way, with all the wacky and impossible scenarios that happen in gaming. It makes you a little less sceptical in life. As well as that you wont be surprised when something like a Zombie uprising actually happens. On the contrary, when a zombie outbreak actually does happen. Gamers are going to be the people leading the few remaining survivors that didn’t become human happy meals. With games like; Left for dead and Dead rising. Gamers now have all the know how on how to scave off the mindless cannibals, as well as have a little fun with them in the process. I’m talking cement mixers that shoot plates at 60 MPH, hoovers with saw blades and Chainsaw Motorbikes.
So gaming does hold some intellectual gain, and isn’t exactly the mindless waste of time every parent seems to think it is. My advice to everyone out there, burn all your books and go buy yourself a Mega drive or SNES. But the most important thing gaming has every taught me is that ‘Every Italian plumber gets his chance at a princess’….and lets face it. Gamers are much higher in the pecking order of life then Italian plumbers.
