Sony announced Firmware Update Version 1.72 for the PlayStation 4 was available, earlier this week. The update is 194MB.
Sony’s full patch notes for the firmware update are as follows:
System Software Stability During the use of some features has been improved.
Yeah, that’s… that’s it. 194MB for… that.
Sony also announced Firmware Update Version 4.60 for PS3, with virtually identical patch notes. This style of firmware update isn’t uncommon among tech companies—vague mentions of bug fixes and stability improvements—although rarely weighing in at that size. Undocumented security fixes and laying groundwork for testing future features are also likely stealthily included in these sorts of updates.
