Xbox One Kinect Devs Want Aquifi to Be Future of Movement and Gesture Technology

The team that developed Kinect technology for the Xbox One has branched out on their own and have started a new company, Aquifi.

They are working on a new software-only platform, Fluid Experience Technology. Fluid Experience Technology is designed to bring an adaptive interface made from inexpensive image sensors to perceptual gaming and gesture-control markets. Because it is relatively cheap to produce, it can be applied to smartphones, PC, wearable devices and other items that have an interface that allows for adaptability to the users.

Aquifi believes that Fluid Experience Technology will remove the barrier between the device and the user. The device will be able to recognize our movements and gestures, and provide an accurate response to the user.

[blockquote right=”pull-right” cite=”Nazim Kareemi, Aquifi Co-Founder”]Within the next decade, machines will respond to us and our needs through intuitive interpretation of our actions, movements, and gestures. Our fluid experience platform represents the next generation in natural interfaces, and will enable adaptive interfaces to become ubiquitous, thanks to our technology’s breakthrough economics.[/blockquote]
The company touts that the new
Fluid Experience Technology will be different from current technology for several different reasons. It can detect movements over a large area and not just within a small interaction zone. It will recognize more than hand movements and even be able to tell which user is using the device. It can adapt due to machine learning, and it uses inexpensive sensors instead of specialized components. In the future, it should be able to utilize smartphone 3-D scanning/mapping as well as be used in safe car applications, such as voice feedback.

It will be interesting to see what the developers can do with this new Fluid Experience Technology. Aquifi says that it will be introduced to developers over the next six months, and the number of ideas for its use are only limited by the developers imagination.
