April Fools’ Day is the one day a year that the Internet just goes insane. You can’t trust anything you read, it seems, but you can be amused by it.
(The Game Fanatics respects you too much to try to prank you today.)
Google Maps Pokemon
Seriously. Open your phone, and open Google Maps. Tap the search box, and then tap the Poke Ball. There’s 151 different Pokemon to catch, and surprisingly, not all are first-generation. You have until 2PM tomorrow to catch ’em all.
Titanfall: Optimus Prime DLC
I’m not entirely clear on whether or not this is IGN’s doing or Respawn’s doing. Either way, they got a decent Peter Cullen impersonator and made a pretty neat-looking G1 Optimus Prime with an awesome axe based on the one that he had in War for Cybertron.
SEGA MEGAne DRIVE
“Megane” is Japanese for “Glasses.” We love terrible puns.
Garrus Vakarian Body Pillow
He has it all. Reach, flexibility, hollow bones… who wouldn’t want to cuddle with Mass Effect’s best vigilante at night?
For the more Dragon Age-inclined, they’re also offering a Varric Chest Toupee:
Blizzard’s Typical Menagerie of Jokes
Blizzard usually does a ton of April Fools’ Day jokes, and this year was no exception. They did a Diablo-themed Flappy Birds clone, fake World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor patch notes, an unnecessary fake art revamp for the Draenei, a deliberately-confusing new name for the next Starcraft II expansion, and announced a return to their roots with a brand-new 2D fighting game—Outcasts: Vengeance of the Vanquished.
Honorable Mention: Homestar Runner Is Back
This is only an honorable mention because it’s not a prank. It’s not fake. It’s just more Homestar Runner for the first time in four years.
Everybody (to the limit) should go watch this now.
