The Xbox One launches soon. Very soon. To provide a little more teasing before its November 22 release date, Microsoft has released new footage demonstrating the console’s advanced voice-command and multitasking capabilities. See for yourself below.
As you follow the video’s fictitious user move hyperactively from function to function, you’ll notice many of the features that Microsoft has been unraveling over the past few months. We hear him issue voice commands like “Xbox, on,” and “Xbox, watch TV.” We hear him say “Xbox, join Titanfall,” after which he is immediately transported from the trailer he is watching to an ongoing multiplayer match. He even records and shares a brief gameplay moment, completely in-game and hands-free.
Although some of these functions are standard for Microsoft‘s current-gen Kinect, the level of multitasking offered by the Xbox One — namely the option to watch or play other media while waiting for games to load — is unprecedented for a console.
It will only be a matter of a few weeks until we finally see Xbox One and PS4 face-off in the general market. Regardless of the outcome, it’s a particularly exciting time for the video game world.
