Part of the new partnership between Sega and Nintendo is the upcoming Sonic: Lost World, which will be released later this year for the Wii U and 3DS. Lost World is heavily influences on the Genesis-era games and has many levels, ranging from 2D side-scrollers to fast-paced linear levels taking place on worlds similar to those of Super Mario Galaxy. Lost World will feature new controls, along with a few platform-specific features.
The 3DS version of Lost World will feature online, four-player versus racing while the Wii U version will features couch-based multiplayer versus and cooperative modes.
In the Wii U co-op mode, Sonic will use the GamePad and supports will use the Wii remote. Spilt-screen will be eliminated in the versus mode, as one player will have their own screen on the TV and the other will have a screen on the GamePad.
It has also been noted that the 3DS version will have exclusive stages and color powers.
Sonic: Lost World is set for release this upcoming holiday season.
