The world of the internet is finally leaving Internet Explorer in the dust and with that finally comes relief from many of the headaches that make the internet a little less enjoyable, but with these free extensions for Google Chrome, your browsing will be a walk in the park.
Magic Actions for YouTube
If you’re an avid YouTube watcher, then this is a must. The app adds all sorts of new features to YouTube like dimming the page around the video, auto-HD, auto-wide, and allowing you to control the volume of the video with the wheel on your mouse. All of these to get the best quality and enjoyment out of your snow days watching YouTube.
Shopping Assistant
This is a very hand feature that comes in handy when you’re doing online shopping. When you’re on a page showing a product, it will look for the item or model number and pull up a menu at the bottom of your window which will show you the price of that item on different sites, or similar items. Sometimes the tool will look up the wrong number and you may have to input it yourself, but for the most-part, it works well.
LastPass
Dubbed as being “the last password you’ll ever have to enter,” LastPass is a great password manager which helps you do one thing: Save time. If you’re like me and use different passwords for different things, then this is a great way to keep from getting a headache trying to figure out your password. Chrome has a password manager built in, but it’s not great by any means. LastPass is easy to use and keeps you headache free in those “Gah! I forgot my password” moments.
Better Pop-up Blocker
This is also a really good add-on to have as it prevents pop-ups from be opened by various web pages. It’s also really easy to disable on webpages where important forms windows will pop-up though an external window (such as pop-out windows for customer service chats like Comcast).
AdBlock
One of the absolute worst things about the internet are those annoying ads that have sound so loud they sound like they could damage your speakers. It got to a point at one time where I would literally turn down the volume nob every time I loaded a new webpage. Thankfully I was sent a link to AdBlock by a friend, though I had FireFox as my main browser then. It completely changed my internet experience. No more headaches. Blocking advertisements also lowers your risk of getting Malware as a good portion of it is spread through those.
Hopefully by introducing you to a few of these, we here at The Game Fanatics have made your web browsing a little more enjoyable. The internet is a great place once you’ve cut through all the crap, and these are just a few ways to help you out in doing just that.
