$400 PlayStation VR Core Pre-Orders Start March 29th

As reported by IGN, PlayStation will now allow customers to pre-order its $400/$550 CAD PlayStation VR core model starting at 7 AM PST on March 29th.

The pre-orders were originally only for the VR Launch Bundle which started at $500 USD/$700 CAD. After fans responded with interest in securing the core bundle, the company added a second pre-order option.

The PlayStation VR Launch Bundle is now available for pre-order as of yesterday morning,

The PlayStation VR core package includes a PS VR headset, PS VR cables, stereo headphones, and the demo disc. The Launch Bundle includes all contents of the PS VR core bundle, and adds a PlayStation Camera, PlayStation VR Worlds, and two PlayStation Move motion controllers.

Playstation VR

The PS VR headset itself is easy to slide on and has two different adjustment buttons on it in order to find a good comfort level. The hardware itself isn’t as strong as its competitor, Oculus Rift, but it is meant to be a cheaper option. Probably the easiest comparison to draw is the Oculus Rift being meant for the PC gamer who wants to maximize visuals where as the PS VR headset is meant for the console gamer who doesn’t care as much about maximized visuals.

PS VR Worlds contains five games on the disc that are meant to give the player five unique VR experiences, including being “treated to incredible visuals as you dive beneath the waves, tackle 360 combat as you fight off alien hordes from all around you, or end up in a face-to-face interrogation with a deranged and furious mobster.”

The demo disc included in the core package will include selections of gameplay from some of the best games that will launch on PS VR. It isn’t confirmed as to what games will be included on the demo disc, but some of the launch titles include: RIGS: Mechanized Combat League (Guerrilla Cambridge), Tumble VR (Supermassive Games), Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (Supermassive Games), and PlayStation VR Worlds (Sony London Studio).

Both bundles will have limited pre-orders. PlayStation will release another wave sometimes in the summer for those who miss out.

PlayStation VR is expected to ship in October. Are you excited for it? Let us know in the comments!
