SDCC 2014 | 3 Really Fun Things to do Outside

Attending San Diego Comic Con and need a break from the hot sweaty atmosphere inside the walls of the convention center? Fear not! There are numerous activities outside the con that you cannot miss out on… and even some activities don’t require a badge!

1. Assasin’s Creed Experience

Test your parkour skills in this unique obstacle course put on by Ubisoft located at the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade. The obstacle course includes a 25 foot drop, rolling, vaulting, and parkouring like nothing you’ve ever done before in an obstacle course. Those who complete the course get an exclusive t-shirt and playable demo of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Oh, and just in case you wanted a shave, a professional barber is on site. I don’t know who would want to shave their glorious beard off… but it’s there for those who are too burly.

2. The Walking Dead Escape

One of the most beloved outside activities during the con debuted in 2012 and since then The Walking Dead Escape has been a hit with zombie fans all over the country. Fans from the hit TV show and comic book, The Walking Dead, can head over to PETCO Park to escape from hordes of horror hounds and gore soaked walkers.

The video below is of a previous event in Houston. Since The Walking Dead Escape obstacle course travels the country, there is some pretty good footage of what is to come. From the looks of it this obstacle course will make you wish you stayed inside the con with the cosplayers instead.

3. Game of Thrones: Survive the Realm Experience

Not a lot has been disclosed about the #SurviveTheRealm experience but the internet tells me it has high hopes for the experience if it is anything like last year’s. Follow the hashtag #SurviveTheRealm on Twitter for more news and updates about this experience that will be located at the Omni Hotel.

BONUS EVENTS:

  • Xbox Lounge at the Manchester Grand Hyatt
  • Godzilla Display behind the Convention Center
  • The Adventure Time Conquest Fulfillment Center across from Children’s Museum
  • The NBC Experience at Gaslamp Square
  • Sony’s Pixels Arcade at the Hard Rock Hotel
  • Nerd HQ at PETCO Park

There are so many things to do outside the convention center for those who need fresh air… and even for those who don’t have badges for the con. One of my favorite sites to look to for information about events happening during the con can be found here: http://www.outsidecomiccon.com/all-events-2014/

Hope to see you there!
