Retail Listing Pins "Assassin's Creed: Rogue" as a Last-Gen's AC Game

Swiss game retailer, Word of Games, may have accidentally revealed the title and release date for the PS3/Xbox 360 Assassin’s Creed game that is due out later this fall.

The product listing, which has since been removed, listed Assassin’s Creed: Rogue for an October 28th release – the same day Assassin’s Creed: Unity releases on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

There is no official confirmation yet so take this with a pinch of salt.

Assassin's Creed Rogue leaked
Assassin’s Creed: Rogue leaked?

But could Assassin’s Creed: Rogue  be the leaked Assassin’s Creed: Comet from earlier in the year? Most signs point to it.

Sometime in March 2014, Kotaku revealed through its sources, that the last-gen game will feature Shay, who is a Templar and a sailor in 1758. The game presumably will feature the same nautical themes from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and will allow players to sail the Atlantic Ocean and travel to New York.

The game also acts as its direct sequel to Black Flag with several characters like Adewalé set to return.

When news originally broke that Ubisoft were creating two AC games for last and next-gen consoles, they were accused of milking the series. Since neither the PS4 or Xbox One feature backward compatibility, gamers will have to keep their last-gen consoles if they want to play the game.

While Ubisoft has gotten a lot of slack lately – from dumbing down the graphics for Watch Dogs to trivializing the inclusion of female assassin’s in Unity – it has a history of creating deep and rich worlds, memorable characters (Sorry Aiden Pearce!) and exciting game play.

Besides, we’re willing to bet that Assassin’s Creed: Rogue (if it is really called that), might be the bookend game for the AC series for last-gen consoles.
