Take A Look at the First NBA Live 14 Screenshot

The NBA Live twitter account posted an image of previously canned basketball sim, NBA Live (formerly NBA Elite). Check it out:

Now before we get too excited, we can’t forget the cancellation of NBA Live 13, after a 2 year hiatus…which was preceded by the canning of NBA Elite 11 (don’t forget the name change)Couple that shoddy track record with the multiple accolades that NBA 2K has been receiving since the release of NBA 2K11, you’ll understand why the game’s not garnering the attention it once did.

NBA Live 14 runs on EA Sports’ highly-touted Ignite engine and boasts multiple improvements to the basketball simulation genre as a whole such as Bouncetek, an interesting new physics tech, and CourtQ, which is rather self-explanatory.

Here at The Game Fanatics, we celebrate video games, so it’s a bit odd for us to look at, what looks to be a very solid upcoming title with such skepticism, but, as stated a few paragraphs up, EA’s batting average in the basketball sim area is pretty embarrassing.

That being said, it’ll be interesting to see two powerhouse developers in the genre again, and competition breeds innovation.

Also, in case you missed it, take a look at the pretty sick NBA Live 14 trailer:
