The Movie Fanatic: 8/3 – Skyfall, Paranormal Activity 4, Taken 2 And More!

After a long hiatus, the weekly trailer post is back! With a brand new title, brand new logo, and all brand new trailers! Check out what is new this week in the land of movie trailers.

It has been another great week of trailers! A very diverse selection featuring something for almost every moviegoer. We will dive into those in a second. I also want to mention that as part of The Movie Fanatic redesign, I will discuss what movies are coming out in theaters this weekend. So you can catch up on all your trailers and then decide what you will want to see this weekend in your local theater. So let us jump right into this week’s trailer releases.

First up this week is Skyfall. Daniel Craig is back in the role of James Bond in 007’s latest adventure. When MI6 comes under attack, Bond must track down the threat and destroy it, no matter the cost. Check out the first theatrical trailer of Skyfall below.

Looks like the paranormal activity continues in the debut trailer for Paranormal Activity 4. Not a lot is shown, but we can tell that it is a new family that moves in after the events of the second movie. I can’t help but feel that these movies are following the release pattern of the Saw movies and wont end until the 7th movie when it shows that people really don’t care about them anymore. Yet, as long as the money comes in, the movies come out.

Taken 2 has released another full length trailer of the upcoming action thriller. I had really hoped that they would have named it “Taken Again,” but since it involves his wife more than his daughter I suppose I can live with it. Taken 2 still looks action packed and fun, plus you can’t go wrong with Liam Neeson. Ever.

Jennifer Lawrence is back this year starring in the film House At The End Of The Street. The third trailer shows The Hunger Games‘ star getting caught up some very unfortunate circumstances in the horror thriller below.

The first trailer for The Paperboy debuted this week. Unfortunately it has absolutely nothing to do with The Paperboy video game. I know, I know, it’s the number one video game franchise that needs to not only get a reboot, but a feature film. Do online petitions still work? Someone should get on that.

Brad Pitt stars in Killing Them Softly which we got the first trailer for this week. However, I don’t want to see a movie with Pitt in it until World War Z comes out. I just hope that it stays on schedule and gets released despite the financial problems it has been having. I have been side tracked, so here is the Killing Them Softly trailer ladies and gentlemen!

What’s a week of movie trailers without a comedy? Yes, it is not an Adam Sandler movie. Everyone rejoice! The Big Wedding is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. Check out the very first trailer embedded below.

So there you have it. All the trailers you may or may not have missed this week. Now that we are all caught up, what is coming out this weekend in your local movie theater? The big blockbuster this week is the remake Total Recall, starring Colin Ferrel, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale. The original came out in 1990 and it was very successful. Will the remake follow suit or will it be dominated by The Dark Knight Rises for weekend box office numbers? We shall see on Sunday when those numbers are released.

If action is not your thing and have some kids to drag to the theater, check out the third installment of the Wimpy Kid movies. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days follows Greg Heffley during the summer where everything just seems to go wrong, which is hilarious… as always. Finally for that movie date you planned this weekend, the romantic comedy The Babymakers starring Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn will be the ideal choice. If none of these float your boat, give The Dark Knight Rises a second, third, or even fourth viewing and be sure to see it in IMAX.

That wraps up this weekly edition of The Movie Fanatic. I will be seeing Total Recall this weekend as it looks like a fun action flick and from the trailers, with some very cool camerawork. Let me know what you are seeing this weekend in the comments below and be sure to come back next Friday to catch up on even more movie trailers.
