Halo 2 PC Multiplayer Servers Say Farewell Feb.15th

Tis’ a sad day for veteran Halo 2 fans as online multiplayer for the PC version are finally coming to an end.

Bungie has decided it’s finally pulling the plug on it’s fabled Halo 2 on Friday, February 15th, and say farewell.

Matches over LAN will still, of course, be possible if you so wish to play. As far as playing through Bungie’s servers, that’s a different story.

“We’ve been monitoring the population for months, and it’s been peaking consistently at approximately 20 players or less.”

With that being said, if you’re one of those 20 people left in the whole planet playing Halo 2, welcome back to the universe. You have much to be filled in on, such as, the release of more games in the Halo franchise! For the Halo 2 faithful, no doubt they’ll work on finding a way to keep playing.

We’ll no doubt see players hold on for dear life the same way they did when the Xbox Live servers shutdown. Hopefully someone can record the final moments of one the better online shooters we’ve seen. If not, then we’ll always have this video from the Xbox Live shutdown to enjoy.

So long, Halo 2 online multiplayer. We remember you well.

Now back to Halo 4 we go…
