External Storage Not Supported at Launch for the Xbox One

According to Major Nelson of Microsoft, the external storage feature will not be supported at the launch of the new Xbox One console. In a special PAX Podcast, Nelson explains around the 37 minute mark with the following quote:

“My understanding is that feature will not be there at launch because the team is working on some other things, but it definitely is on the list. I don’t know when it will come in though.”

Given the fact that the Xbox One launch model will come with 500 GB of storage, if the feature is implemented not too long after the initial launch, most gamers shouldn’t need the external storage immediately, but it would be appreciated. As Major Nelson said, there still isn’t a solid release date to the external storage implementation, which is fairly worrisome.

Given the current state of how media is accessed with mediums like YouTube, Netflix, Pandora, and in some cases streamed games, the 500 GB should be enough until the USB 3.0 external storage feature is implemented.

What do you guys think? Should the feature be implemented at launch, or do you think 500 GB is good enough until the feature is implemented?
