Zack Snyder Teams With DC, Warner Bros. For Justice League Movie

Next year’s sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel is still taking shape, but that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. from planning the next step forward. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Director Zack Snyder, who helmed Man of Steel, as well as the movie adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel Watchmen, has been signed on to direct a Justice League film after the Man of Steel sequel, reportedly titled Batman vs. Superman.

The studio is taking a different approach in adapting the comic characters to film than Marvel has done, by adding characters to each film using Superman as a base, rather than giving the heroes their own films before joining them together. A Justice League film isn’t expected to release before 2018.

Batman vs. Superman, set to release on May 6, 2016, will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Gal Gadot will bring Wonder Woman to the screen, with Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth. David Goyer, one of the minds behind Man of Steel and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, returns as a writer.
