Yooka-Laylee Has a Release Time Frame!

Yooka-Laylee

The N64 was the console for platformers, Conkers Bad Fur, Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie were some of the best examples of charming and challenging games of the genre; For a long time players have been craving a new catalyst to scratch that itch and thankfully here comes Yooka-Laylee.

Earlier today, Playtonic Games released a video showcasing gameplay, environments, and characters in Yooka-Laylee and it looks bananas so far! The game is certainly reminiscent of the classic Rare Software imagery and score, it isn’t hard to see why the game is called the spiritual successor of the Banjo-Kazooie – mostly because a lot of the team who worked on Banjo added their talents to this game.

Yooka-Laylee so far seems promising, developers have certainly injected that humor and dialogue that fans of the Banjo-Kazooie franchise are used to. The game-play looks incredibly thought-provoking for the player with a host of different ways to solve puzzles, kill enemies and traverse the world.

The game has been set for the first quarter of 2017 and will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and Steam. We’ve given our heart to platformers before and we trusted the developers only to be through into the mud – Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts we’re looking at you – but this game may pull our hopes sky-high. After watching the trailer you can’t but feel a little twinge of nostalgia, let’s just sit tight and hopefully the team at Playtonic Games will deliver the game we’ve all been waiting for.
