XCOM 2: Anarchy’s Children DLC Coming Next Week

XCOM 2: Anarchy’s Children is the first DLC pack coming right up for XCOM 2, and here’s what you need to know about it.

Without a doubt, one of the great pleasures of playing an XCOM game is being able to customize your soldiers; giving them names of your friends (or enemies, as the case may be), documenting their victories and mourning the fallen. While it made for great drama on top of an already excellent and challenging game, character options in the past were pretty bare-bones, even in XCOM 2’s rather advanced system. Thankfully, Firaxis has started to address this with its first DLC patch, entitled XCOM 2: Anarchy’s Children, scheduled to be released on March 17th.

So what exactly are we talking about here? According to the official page, “Anarchy’s Children features over 100 new exotic customization options for your soldiers, including new hair styles, face paints, armor, lower face props, decals, helmets, masks and more.”

Nothing was explicitly stated about what (if at all) in-game effects these options will have beyond making your team look as freaky as possible, although the site does make mention of “menacing tactical styles that run the gamut from post-apocalyptic to the downright deranged.”

As you can see in the images displayed, XCOM 2: Anarchy’s Children appears to have a distinct Mad Max vibe going on, with a little bit of Saints Row mixed in. In keeping with the general visual design philosophy of XCOM 2, the updates look sharp, colorful, and just a little bit silly-looking, and it will be fun to see what amazing creations players come up with once this DLC is released.

Suit Up On March 17th

If your plan is to pick up XCOM 2: Anarchy’s Children on its own, it’s going to set you back by $4.99. If you’re one of those people who have already picked up the XCOM 2: Reinforcement Pack Season Pass, then feel free to disregard that previous sentence because, lo and behold, you already own it. In any case, you’ll be able to pick it up on March 17th over on Steam.

XCOM 2: Anarchy's Children Soldier

As an added (or expected, depending on your experience with the game thus far) bonus, Take-Two announced that along with this DLC, they will be releasing a patch containing “performance optimizations and gameplay bug fixes”. Nothing specific was mentioned at this time, but a promise of a more stable game is certainly always welcome.
