Xbox One Cases Are Green, Don't Look Half Bad

Major Nelson has given us a glimpse of what gamer’s shelves will look like soon, should they purchase the Xbox One. Surprise, surprise– they’ll still be a lovely shade of green. The Xbox One case has been revealed, and it very unsurprisingly is following the trend of emerald that has stayed true to the brand since the original hit shelves in 2001. You can take a look and judge for yourself, but there is something to be said for consistency.

This also gives us our first look at Forza Motorsport 5‘s boxart, which is surely subject to change. As with the casing, Forza is staying true to its legacy of car, track, and print. We’ll call it minimalism. It is, after all, modern and eye catching.

What’s most interesting to me is how the case resembles the standard blu-ray case. It’s been confirmed that the Xbox One will use blu-ray, so this isn’t too surprising. The last thing gamers need is someone trying to reinvent the wheel, or rectangle, as it were. I honestly don’t look at my cases too frequently, so I appreciate Microsoft’s simple approach to things.

What do you think of the new case? Too different, or not different enough? Should they have done away with the green in favor of another color? Quite frankly, does it even matter?
