Xbox Live’s Games with Gold Offers Stealth and Survival Tactics for August

Announced this morning via Major Nelson’s blog, next month’s Games with Gold for Xbox Live members offers up stealth and zombie adventures on Xbox One and two post-apocalyptic shooters on the Xbox 360.

Let’s talk about Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which will be free to download for  Xbox Live gold members from August 1st to the 31st on Xbox One. Yet to play this six to eight hour prologue to Konami‘s upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? Well, this is the perfect opportunity to jump in with Snake and deal with the threats involved with Camp Omega.

Come August 16th however, How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition will also be made available as a free download until mid-September. In this smaller title, players will be tasked with battling a deadly zombie outbreak around a desolate archipelago while maintaining basic survival skills. Hunting down resources, crafting weapons, and seeking out shelter are only the basics to survive the zombie threat.

Games with Gold August 2015

For those of you who still own an Xbox 360, you’ll have the opportunity to snag two post-apocalyptic shooters that explore life in the metros after a devastating nuclear attack on Russia.

Made available in the first half of the month, Metro 2033 will see players assume the role of young man seeking out military aid when his metro station is attacked by an unworldly entity known as “The Dark Ones.” Then once August 16th hits, you’ll be able to download Metro: Last Light and continue Artyom’s story; a narrative filled with complex politics, gritty survival, and most importantly of all, redemption.

Metro 2033 Monsters

It seems that with each passing month, Xbox Live’s Games with Gold program is offering players some extremely meaty titles that are definitely worth the investment. From sneaking through Camp Omega with Snake and battling hordes of zombies on an infested island, to creeping through the dark, mysterious tunnels of the Moscow metros, August’s Games with Gold are arguably the best we’ve seen to date.
