World of Warcraft Legion Cinematic Trailer Sure is Amazing…

War is coming to World of Warcraft. Granted, this is what feels like the third straight expansion we’ve said that.

Something feels different though with Legion. Granted, when the trailer starts with Alliance hero Varian Wyrnn essentially saying “I don’t think I’ll make it out of this alive,” a certain tone is set. Add in the fact that we’re essentially going to war with the Burning Legion as part of a storyline that began back in Cataclysm, stakes have been set.

There’s just one small, awkward, and very important thing to consider here: this game isn’t coming out until Summer 2016.

As much as I enjoyed my time with Warlords of Draenor, you can’t release an MMORPG and then fail to support it with steady content. Yet that’s exactly what happened with Warlords. The game’s only substantial content patch, 6.2, was released back in June. This is now approximately a full year without worthwile content in World of Warcraft. It brings back the “memories” of the “Year of Siege of Orgrimmar.”

So sure, this cinematic trailer looks cool. We’re going to war again with the Burning Legion. Varian and Sylvannas are teaming up together. There’s combat, explosions, and tension.

There’s also another seven months until the Summer Solstice. Buckle up, buckaroo. It’s going to be a long drive.
