Watch: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Revealed At E3 2017

Damn, I love being right. Capping off the end of Bethesda’s E3 showcase, the publisher officially announced Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, a direct sequel to the 2014 installment.

The game continues the adventures of BJ Blazkowicz in an alternate history where Germany won WWII and became a new world order. So he leads a revolution to topple their regime, one dead Nazi at a time.

The trailer and gameplay footage does show some interesting details. First, the campaign will be set in North America in the 1960s, with BJ doing his best to start a revolution against the regime with whatever he can find. According to Bethesda, the game will include sections set in Roswell, New Orleans, and even a post-nuclear Manhatten.

The last game, Wolfenstein: The New Order was notable for being both a return to the series’ roots as a hyperviolent run and gun affair complete with dual-wielding weapons and lots of heads to pop off. It was also an underrated narrative experience dealing with themes of hope in the face of overwhelming despair and knowing when to fight back.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus appears to continue these themes while upping the ante. Such as our hero expecting children on the way with his love interest from the last game, and notable returns of other supporting characters. There also appears to be more outrageous weapons for BJ to use against the Nazi scum like laser rifles, SMGs, and a rideable robot dog that breathes fire.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be available October 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
