The Witcher Adventure Game Hunts Closed Beta

CD Projekt Red has been wasting no time in expanding their leading franchise and while The Witcher Adventure Game had been previously announced, it is now ready for Closed Beta participants.

The Witcher Adventure Game is a physical board game that will be available for hobbyist’s who love gathering around a table with friends. Alternatively, a digital version of the game will also be available for download on PC and select iOS and Mobile devices when it releases this year.

The Closed Beta access for the title is currently only available to those who pre-ordered The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt through the GoG.com retailer, which also happens to be owned by CD Projekt Red. The beta is available on PC and Mac and will only include multiplayer for testing but the finished product will feature offline and hot-seat gameplay modes as well.

The Witcher Adventure Game

The Witcher Adventure Game has players choosing from iconic heroes of the lore, such as Geralt of Rivia and Triss Merigold, while using individually unique skills to overcome the challenges that the game will throw at them. CD Projekt Red promises “deep backstory” and “high replayability” for those who venture into the world of The Witcher.

Some of the features and strong points of the upcoming title include:

  • Easy learning curve and understandable rules and mechanics.
  • A plethora of quest cards that will be the foundation of the replayability, aiding in telling a unique story each game.
  • 4 heroes with unique skills and styles that will differ their approaches in problem solving encounters.
  • A faithful take on The Witcher’s universe that retains the brutality and mature content that defines the franchise.

Fear not if you haven’t taken the plunge on pre-ordering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or if you plan to purchase it on a console, as Closed Beta sign-ups are still available to the public. Check out the trailer below for a glimpse into the title and the announcement of the beta.

The Witcher Adventure Game will be available “late” 2014 for the PC, Mac, iOS (iPads!) and Android Tablets for a not yet revealed price point but we do know it won’t be a free-to-play title. For those feeling particularly old-school, the physical edition of the board game will be released at a price of $59.95.
