What We Played November 26 – December 2

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Darrin: Finished up Black Ops 2 – got the bad ending, boo. Still a great campaign, and while the Wii U multiplayer doesn’t have as many people participating as the other systems, it seems to be more fun… less likely to run into jerks or people that can spare 12 hours a day playing, so you actually have a chance when you log in.

Jake: Still been enjoying the Wii U. Some ZombiU, Mario, Nano Assault Neo, Forza Horizon…wait what?

Jen: Halo 4 wasn’t played that much this week. I think I only played it when Episode Four of Spartan Ops was released. Star Wars the Old Republic got some attention, but once the Omega DLC launched for Mass Effect 3, everything was put on pause for Omega. The DLC itself was alright but it wasn’t the best one and I got the feeling that Omega was over hyped. I managed to get Forza Horizon for super cheap on Black Friday, which came in this past week. I haven’t played much of it and not enough to make a conclusion of the game. Rock Band Blitz and Bejeweled 3 were played when I had little free time or when I was trying to get some sleep.

Jeff: Jumped back into Black Ops– I can’t get enough of the bot matches, and got back to finishing another round of Bioshock. I hit a weird framerate bug near the end of the game, but hopefully it’ll be gone the next time I boot the game. I’ve also been working on The Fight: Lights Out, a game I’ve had since the Move came out and still haven’t finished. It’s not a great game, but it’s a fun workout.

Enis: I actually have taken a small break from Halo 4, aside from Spartan Ops, only because I’m waiting for my Specialization Code to be sent to me by XBL. So in the meantime I’ve been playing Borderlands 2 and love it still. Been playing that majority of the time now. Reached level 44 and am now farming and completing the game on True Vault Hunter mode. Zer0 is a very well made character I love the implementation of eCHOs, they really dig into the characters backgrounds. Wish there were more to them. Definitely my favorite character to play and Zer0 is totally an alien. Also bought a Kinect finally so my wife and I can play Dance Central…. But I won’t go into detail about that to save myself the embarrassment.

Ben: Been playing some more ZombiU and I really like it. It’s probably the first survival horror game we’ve had in years (at least on consoles). It feels like it could have used a couple months of polish though. Still, I recommend it, especially if you have a Wii U (duh!). I also got Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on the Wii U and have been impressed at how good it is. Definitely scratches that kart racing itch. You can also play it exclusively on the touch screen and that works very well. After all that I started playing Dishonored. I’m not very far though because I’m trying to be way too sneaky and not get seen or kill anyone. To me there isn’t any other way to play that game.

Charles: I’ve been playing Far Cry 3. The story is great, can’t say much more than that. I’ll have my review up this week, and you can watch me rant and rave about it on the next episode of the Game Fanatics Show!
