What We Played January 6 – 12

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Jeff: Dug a little deeper into Mass Effect 2, but I’ve taken a small break from Bioware‘s epic in favor of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Ico is an often frustrating, but ultimately rewarding, modern fairy tale. Shadow, on the other hand, is one of the most captivating gameplay experiences I’ve had in a long time… and that’s just the first encounter. I can’t wait to play more.

Enis: I’ve continued my quest to earn that cameo in a Halo title – the grand prize for the Infinity Challenges Spartan Ops. I locked myself into the first tier over the last 4 weeks and now it’s just a few days in the finals. Halo 4 is all I’ve done this past week and see myself continuing in this path for a while. About to hit SR130 as well. The highest rank in the game. w00t w00t! Also had the chance to play some Big Team Battle, Regicide and Dominion with and against Brittany, Jen, John, along with a few others. Amazing time. Competitive, exciting and fun.

Brittany: I played Halo 4 with my staff, it was great, especially picking up random pug guy named WB.

Greg: Been playing a good deal of Sleeping Dogs. Really liking it. Good story, great combat, cool city. Very fun game. Getting back in touch with my love of John Woo movies.

Luis: I finished playing Hitman: Absolution for the third time since I got it. Ridiculously awesome stealth action game. I also managed to snag a platinum trophy for it as well. Aside from console games, I used my 3DS quite a bit with some Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 3D Land, and quite a bit of Pokemon Black Version 2.

Chris C: With all of the football going on over the weekend. I found myself trying to create magic with Colin Kaepernick in online games of Madden 13, I couldn’t even replicate what he ended up doing to the Packers in his first playoff game. Aside from that I played a few rounds of King of Fighters XIII, I still firmly believe that is the best fighting game of the modern consoles.

Ben: Finished up Far Cry 3 and did all the side stuff too. That is one solid game. Hours and hours of pure fun.

Jen: Finally Halo 4 got some love again with multiplayer action with some fellow TGFers and friends. It was completely awesome, especially since I don’t play multiplayer with friends that often due to schedules, real life and work (boo). Since I haven’t played in awhile, I was a bit rusty and for some reason, I do worse playing on larger maps. Too much solo play, me thinks. I’ve been playing SWTOR as my Trooper, playing along side my husband and his Trooper. When he’s unable to play, I switch over to red side and play as my Sith warrior. I’ve been playing Republic side since the release, so it is a nice change to finally play my Imperial characters. Played a little bit of Rock Band Blitz to pass the time, as well as the rhythm Final Fantasy game on my 3DS. I think it might be time to get some new songs for it.
