What We Played December 17 – 23

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Jeff: Still plugging away at Angry Birds Seasons and Bad Piggies, but I made a little time to play Vanquish. It’s still a lot of fun, but it’s mostly getting me hyped for Metal Gear Rising.

Ben: I was pretty busy this last week so here we go! Finished up XCOM which was great. Then I beat Demon’s Souls again which was also great. Then I played Hotline Miami and it was pretty brutal. It’s a lot of fun but also unsettling at the same time because of the creepy and loud sound design and the fact that you are murdering people. It was really good, I just wish the ending had been a little less confusing. It’s still an interesting game that is worth checking out though. But that’s not all!!! I started and beat Mark of the Ninja which is so expertly crafted at making you a badass ninja it’s crazy. This is the pinnacle of being stealthy in video games. Never have you been able to do so much, so efficiently. It’s pretty great and also worth checking out.

Joel: I have been on a loot frenzy playing Borderlands 2 and all of its DLC glory. Leveling up a Commando and a Mechromancer, both are insanely fun. I have also been playing some Black Ops II and actually enjoying it. Will be starting Persona 4 on Vita soon, I keep hearing amazing things about it.

Darrin: Mass Effect 1 (PS3): wrapping up my first playthrough, enjoying it. Also working on Metroid: Other M. Aside from the questionable story, the gameplay is pretty solid.

Jen: Finally got my smuggler to level 50 in SWTOR! Took me long enough to get her there. Now I’m working to get my Jedi Shadow to 50, which she is close at level 45 now. Played some Halo 4 multiplayer and a bit one chapter of an episode on insanity for the achievement.
