What We Know About the PlayStation 5 So Far

The wait is over – the PlayStation 5 has finally been revealed! Sony made sure to pull out all the stops in not only revealing the look and accessories for the console but 37 games all coming out on the PS5. Trevor shared his thoughts on the conference yesterday and Logan’s got you covered with all the game trailers, so let’s have a quick recap of all the information we know so far.

The Console

The PS5 is boasted to be a next-generation gaming powerhouse able to compete with PCs. It will feature an 8 core AMD Zen 2 CPU running at 3.6 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, and a custom AMD GPU. This graphic processor will be extremely powerful to show the next wave of games in beautiful detail. Ray tracing galore! Other features include seamless loading times and a super SSD. The PlayStation 5 will include two versions upon release: Classic and Digital Edition. The class will include the physical game and blu ray disk reader while the Digital Edition will not. It is unclear if there will different prices between the two editions. (Source: Tech Radar)

The Controller

First revealed in March, the DualSense controller boasts a sleek design and some very cool bells and whistles. This new controller will have haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to give your gameplay an extra sensory edge. The DualSense will also have a built in microphone for easy voice commands without a headset.

The Accessories

The PS5 will also have other sleek accessories on top of the DualSense. A brand new wave of headsets, a media remote, controller chargers, and an HD camera will hit the shelves as well. Sony really wants customers to make the Playstation their ultimate entertainment device. With this line up of accessories, you could definitely make that happen!

The Games

Of course, the most important factor of a gaming console: what games can I play on it? The answer is so many games, both new and old. The PS5 is backward compatible so your PS4 games will not be lost. Actually, Sony will be rewarding those PS4 owners with special add ons in GTA V. The Future of Gaming event, as mentioned earlier, revealed many PlayStation 5 exclusives available on release as well. Horizon Zero Dawn 2, Resident Evil 8, a new Spiderman expansion, and even the Demon Souls remake are slated to come out near Holiday 2020. As for VR games, the console will be compatible with the current PSVR with hopes of releasing PSVR2 soon. In case you missed it, Logan’s got you covered with all 27 game trailers from Sony’s Future of Gaming PlayStation 5 event yesterday.

The Unknowns

Despite all of the announcements at yesterday’s Future of Gaming event we still have lots to learn about the PlayStation 5. It is unclear when exactly the console will be released but the window is Holiday 2020. In addition, the price point has not been released either which is a source of anxiety for some. However, Sony stated they will release these details soon but due to stocking worries from COVID-19, they haven’t opened pre-orders.

So fanatics, will you be pre-ordering the PlayStation 5? Which version will you get, Digital or Classic? Let us know in the comments or hit us up @TheGameFanatics on social media.
