Watch: Total War: Warhammer 2 Announcement Trailer

After a good year for the first installment, Sega and Creative Assembly announced Total War: Warhammer 2 with a cinematic trailer, revealing a sequel that’s coming later this year. The Warhammer universe grows in Total War’s world, with hints of new factions joining the sequel.

The first title of the series easily became the top Total War title, introducing the fantasy world to the deep strategy system and adapting its real-time combat to the battles between the Empire, the Vampire Counts, the Dwarfs, and the Greenskins.

The Second Chapter Begins

Since the series is supposedly planned as a trilogy, we’re seeing what will be the second chapter of Warhammer’s story, with more portions of this universe entering the Total War realms. It’s time for Dark Elves, High Elves, and Lizardmen to join the quarrel, together with a fourth race that remains a secret.

We shouldn’t expect heavy changes gameplay or graphic wise, especially since it’s a direct sequel. At most, we should see some polished features and innovations through the new available classes, that will surely introduce new ways of approaching strategic combat. The campaign itself of Total War: Warhammer 2 will combine with the world of his predecessor, offering those who own both the chance to embark on epic large-scale campaigns with any of the 8 playable races. The war for the Great Vortex continues, and as it grows in scale, so does the hype for a big finale.
