Wager Matches: Game Types That Will Make You Hate Your Friends

Game Types That Will Make Your Friends Hate You

Call of Duty: Black Ops Wager Matches

Sometimes I call it sweet revenge and other times I want to rip my hair out… all thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops wager matches. If you haven’t played any of the game types in the wager match lobby, you are truly missing out. There are 4 different game types in the wager match lobby: One in the Chamber, Sharpshooter, Sticks and Stones, and Gun Game. All of these game types cost “COD Points” to play. Luckily, they are easy to obtain. These points can be earned by playing regular game types in the normal lobbies. In the wager match lobby, there are 3 different categories for the game types: Ante Up, Weekend Gambler, and Highroller. Each category has different restrictions and amounts needed to be wagered to play. The top 3 players out of 6 in each game type wins the COD Points and is “In The Money”.  Everyone else loses their bids and then next round starts.

One in the Chamber

Run Like Hell

One in the Chamber is one of the game types where you have 1 bullet and 3 lives. The object of the game is to survive the longest (if you do you get a “survival bonus”) and not get shot. Every time you kill someone with your knife you get a bullet. You can hold up to 7 bullets but will always have 3 lives. When you shoot someone you get another bullet. If you shoot and miss, you only have your knife to resort too. This can be painful. After the last two remaining players are left, you get a Spy Plane to see where the other player is at. This is where it gets frustrating. While you are in the dead lobby all you can do is switch between the players and watch. Sometimes this goes by fast if one of the players has many bullets, but if it has resorted to a “knife off” you get to sit back, bite your nails and wait for one of them to get impatient and take a swing.

Tiger Tip: Turn your sensitivity up. This can help you in a situation when you are facing a knife off.

Sticks and Stones

Bankrupted! AGAIN?

One of the most painful game types in the wager match category is Stick and Stones. You start off with a crossbow, ballistic knife and a tomahawk. Just like all the other game types in the playlist, you have 6 players in the match. The object of the game is to rack up as many points from kills. The highest scoring player has a gold dot on the map and is easy to find, in case you want to get crazy and try to tomahawk them. Getting tomahawked sucks. It just does. You think you are going to win the match… You’ve been in first place the whole game, then BAM! you get tomahawked. Now you are bankrupt and have no points. If you accidentally kill yourself in anyway it counts against you and automatically bankrupts you.

Tiger Tip: Don’t be afraid to toss your tomahawk at anytime. You would be surprised how many times a tomahawk can bounce off something and still get the person you were “aiming” at.

Sharpshooter

Shoot Em Up!

If you are looking to get familiar with weapons you don’t frequently use, Sharpshooter could be the game type for you. This is  the only game type that you can randomly use a “Death Machine” and “Grim Reaper that isn’t in a care package. You and 5 other players are running around the map getting points by kills and bonuses. Bonuses only last until you die. Bonuses consist of the perks Sleight of Hand Pro, Lightweight Pro, Steady Aim Pro, and double points. Your weapon switches after a certain amount of time and the weapons are chosen at random. However, when your gun switches, everyone’s gun switches. Everyone carries the same gun as well. This is one of the least popular of the game types in the wager matches, but it is great to play to get used to different guns and attachments.

Tiger Tip: You have infinite ammo in this game type so don’t worry about running out of ammo mid battle. Light them up!

Gun Game

Just Wait Until I Am Past The Python!

Gun Game is probably one of the more popular of the wager matches, and the most frustrating. There are 2o tiers of weapons that you have to use before the winner is declared. You start off with the python, a nasty little pistol. Every time you kill someone you go through different guns. Whether it be shotguns, sub-machine guns, sniper rifles, launchers and the last weapon to win the game with is the ballistic knife. Now, the most frustrating part of this game is the person running around knifing everyone. I admit, I am an avid user of the melee knife… you get close, you get cut… but once you get knifed you become “humiliated” and go back a tier. The best part of this game is screaming out when someone is on the crossbow, and you convince other players to go humiliate the top player.

Tiger Tip: When in stressful times, call out other player locations. This will prevent them from camping and make them very angry… maybe mad enough to start playing poorly!
