Video Game Illustrator Greg Martin Passes

If you played video games in the 1990’s, then you’ve seen the work of Greg Martin.

I had a poster on my bedroom door that was the cover art for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The man behind such art, Greg Martin, has passed away. This was reported by a friend who had the privilege to know Greg Martin who shared Mr. Martin‘s career on the Nintendo Age forums. The post on Nintendo Age is a heartwarming one, celebrating the life of Greg Martin. He worked on the box art for several iconic games from the 1990’s such as Adventure Island, Little Nemo the Dream Master, Taz-Mania, Duck Tales 2, several Sonic the Hedgehog video games and many more. Not only did Greg Martin work with SEGA and Nintendo, but he also worked at Hanna Barbera and contributed to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Thundercats.

Greg Martin‘s art will surely live on. He help bring to life several characters that gamers, especially the retro gamers, hold dear.
