New Trailer Shows Off Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Differences and More

A new Pokemon trailer released today showcases a new day & night system as well as some interesting new Pokemon.

One of the standout features of Pokemon Sun and Moon will be the tweaked time system. In games past, the time of day depended on the 3DS’s clock. While it appears that will still be the case for Pokemon Sun, Pokemon Moon will have a twelve hour time difference – if it is noon in Pokemon Sun, it will be midnight in Pokemon Moon.

The times of day are not the only differences between the versions, though. The Totem Pokemon–the game’s minibosses–will differ between each game. And, of course, some Pokemon will be exclusive to each game.

Those who have longed for Pokemon Snap’s return will be glad to know of the PokeFinder feature of Sun and Moon. There appear to be areas in the Aloha region that allow players to take photos of different Pokemon in the wild. While not quite as expansive as Pokemon Snap, it is a nice homage to a fan favorite spin-off.

Now it’s time for the new Pokemon. First revealed was Type: Null. No, it’s not a new type, but it is an artificial Pokemon (ala Mewtwo/Genosect) with mismatched limbs and a big heavy mask. Type: Null is also the partner of Gladion, a Team Skull enforcer. Then, there is Jangmo-o. It appears to be the new pseudo-legendary dragon that may take some time to level but will dominate the late-game. The next Pokemon revealed was the Aloha Form of Raticate, which is a Dark/Normal type.

The trailer also showcases an opposing team to Team Skull: The Aether Foundation. This group owns the artificial island in the region, and they are committed to defending Pokemon from Team Skull and their gangster antics. There also appears to be a collect-a-thon where the player must collect the cells and cores of Zygarde, the legendary Pokemon.

Finally, there was the announcement of Ultra Beasts. Very little information was given about these creatures, and it isn’t even confirmed that they are Pokemon. The only one revealed was UB-01, but not much else seems to be known about it or the other Ultra Beasts.

So, what do you think? Will you be getting Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon? Which new Pokemon are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments below!
