Tokyo Game Show 2016 | New Details on Death Stranding Revealed

Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima has made a brief appearance at Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show to feed us some more details about his enigmatic Death Stranding.

Finding Hideo Kojima at Japan’s most famous gaming show should not come as a surprise to anybody. Neither the fact that he has taken this opportunity to keep on building the interest surrounding his cryptic Death Stranding. Since its debut during the latest E3, Kojima’s next project has somehow remained in the shadows and only little pieces of information have surfaced to the press.

With this appearance, he clearly states that there is something happening in the backstage – which we cannot but cherish.

Death Stranding: an Open World with Online Elements

Kojima has confirmed that Death Stranding is an action title that takes place in an open world environment. This will grant players with enough freedom to roam around at their own pace. However, as with any of Kojima’s productions, the story will be defined and rich. Judging by the powerful imagery of the first trailer, we will be probably facing a complex and whirlpool-like narrative. On top of this, Kojima has also said that Death Stranding includes online features. He has not commented on the reach or impact of this characteristic just yet.

The theme of the game is included in the title, according to the Japanese creator. Its proposition is “to connect”, to link players “by a rope or strand element” to different parts of the game. Kojima has also shared that the development is starting soon since his studio has already decided for an engine. He has not said which.  Since the game will support 4K and HDR, we are sure this adventure will stand graphically at a very high peak and will come for the latest PlayStation wonder.

After sharing this information with the world, Kojima has retreated from the stage without a new trailer. However, he has also promised people won’t finish the Tokyo Game Show of this year without knowing something more. The gaming expo concludes this September 18 so make sure you stay tuned to TGF to know all future details!
