Tokyo Game Show 2016 | Horizon: Zero Dawn Gets a New Trailer

Horizon Zero Dawn

Guerilla Games’ highly-awaited Horizon: Zero Dawn showcases in the Tokyo Game Show with new material – and it’s looking amazing.

It had been a while since the last time we heard about Horizon: Zero Dawn. And no, we are not talking about the announcement of a 2017 release, but about juicier, content driven material. We may be “lucky” that Horizon is coming as a PlayStation 4 exclusive because it has been brought with all due honors to the Tokyo Game Show. In this occasion, Guerilla Games and Sony have surprised their audiences with a brand new trailer. The good thing is that it not only sketches the main story line we already knew but that it delves nicely in new gameplay, environment and characters scenes. The bad, that is in Japanese only. You can still enjoy it for the chills though.

Zero Dawn

What we can see is already a more dynamic narrative. We mean, there is something in Horizon: Zero Dawns that lurks even beyond the existence of mechanical dinosaurs. In the trailer we get glimpses of Aloy, the game’s crafty protagonist, both as a kid and as an adult as she uncovers that post-apocalyptic, wild world. She fights, she learns, she meets some folks, good and bad. If we knew about the existence of other tribes and groups, it’s now that we see some of them clearly as enemies or at least, as foes to defeat. After watching it, some questions come to mind. What motivated the world to go dark? Where do these big machines come from? Can some humans control them? What is the big mission that spurs Aloy? There are still a lot of details to discover.

If your knowledge of Japanese is as faulty as ours, then you can also watch a recent coverage trailer from Game Informer. This one comes in English and it contains new gameplay scenes. It also brings some of its creators to the screen to comment on the gaming experience Guerilla is trying to achieve. Whether this title appeals to you or not, it’s clear that Horizon: Zero Dawn is looking gorgeous and engaging.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a PlayStation 4 exclusive coming out on February 28 for NA, March 1 for EU and March 3 for UK. How much are you looking forward to play it? Let us know!
