Titanfall's Matchmaking System Has Been Refined

The Respawn Entertainment game Titanfall, which is available on PC and Xbox One, has opened up a beta playlist, allowing people to experience the new changes being made. The purpose of this change is to make it less frustrating for losing teams, or inexperienced players, who are constantly put up against players of much higher abilities. The beta can be accessed through Titanfall‘s Classic Mode, in the ‘Improved Matchmaking (Beta)’.

This new beta now takes longer to search for opponents, because they find opponents more suited to your level. Whilst this means that searching for opponents takes longer, you’re more likely to play a fair game. The developers have stated: ‘Searching for teammates and opponents will now sometimes take more time to look for players that are a good skill level match, rather than purely prioritizing speed over quality. This will give us more time to build better teams and create closer games that are worth staying in for a longer period of time.’

Another change that will be easily identified is the periodic change of opponents. It gets boring playing the same opponents over and over, let’s be honest, so the frequent change in opponents will be refreshing for all gamers. Especially if you’re playing against a particularly skilled team. ‘Rather than playing against the same opponents over and over, the game will periodically split the teams apart and search for new opponents for each team. This means if one team is dominating, we will update the skill for all of the players and then find each team a better suited match for the next round. Did you lose to a really great team? We’ll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team–and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked. This should end some of the frustration with playing for extended periods when you’re having an off night.’

This isn’t the first change that’s been made to Titanfall. The PC game has recently been tweaked, so players who were caught cheating can only play against fellow cheaters. A fair playing field for everyone. It seems Titanfall is trying to attain the status of being a fair playing field for all gamers.
