Tired of Gaming

Has there ever been a time in your life when you wanted to put down the controller and stop? For many gamers, we started out young and have been playing video games for many years, if not decades. For some, this is what we do, love, breath and sleep. Stopping altogether shouldn’t be a question nevertheless there are those games that tend to stress us out and make us want to quit.

I didn’t get tired of gaming however I did reach that point in my life when I should stop playing and become an adult. This happened when I was eighteen years old. A year later I regretted that decision. Since then, there have been moments when I got tired of gaming but it wasn’t because of gaming as a whole, it was because of the game.

Just like a job or school, video games can and will stress us out. Can’t beat a boss? Too many bugs and glitches in a game to drive you mad? Need to wait for a certain patch to be ready? This is when we need to put down the controller before we ruin the gaming experience with said game and pick up another. This could be dubbed “The Portal Complex”. You know when you’re stuck on a puzzle in Portal and you know the solution is so simple, yet you can’t figure it out? This is when you need to walk away. Come back later, calm and rested and then instantly, you’ve solved it.

This should be one of the reason to never trade in or get rid of your old games. Playing one game for too long can make a gamer restless. Switching it up from time to time is always healthy and makes one remember why we play: to have fun and to lose ourselves in a reality unlike our own.

If you ever find yourself tired of grinding in the newest game, just remember your roots and maybe dust off an old game or three and unwind from gaming with a game that you might have forgotten about.

Just an example, take a look at our Mario Kart 64 article. A prime example of a fun game to take a break from gaming with.
