Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Has a Japanese Demo

Last year Square Enix and Indieszero released Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a Final Fantasy-based rhythm game for Nintendo 3DS and iOS. The sequel to that game, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, is now available as a demo in the Japanese 3DS eShop. It’s set to release this spring in Japan.

Thanks to the staff at Nintendo Life, we have videos of all three tracks available in the Curtain Call demo: Seymour Battle from Final Fantasy X; Crimson Blitz from FFXIII: Lightning Returns; and Serene Forest from Final Fantasy XIV. In all three demo tracks the player party — in the same visual lineup as classic Final Fantasy games — consists of Lightning, Yuna, Tidus and Y’shtola.

Similar to Guitar Hero and other rhythm games, the goal of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call is to tap and swipe your touch screen in time with rhythmic button prompts. The game boasts over 200 music tracks and 60 Final Fantasy characters. Light RPG elements and a two-player versus mode will also be included in the final release version.

Watch a playthrough of Seymour Battle from Final Fantasy X below. Visit Nintendo Life for the remaining two.
