Since joining The Game Fanatics team, Chris has reported on a variety of different video gaming news as a staff writer. He has reviewed Sports, Fighting and Platforming titles in his time with the team. His gaming preferences have more old-school tendencies, as 2D Fighting Games and 2D Platforming tend to be his favorite. As a lab technician always seeking a hobby, on top of a passion for video games, fantasy football, anime, music, and sneakers are among the many things that keep Chris entertained. All while trying to be an Indy-Wrestler in Northern California. This wide array of interests gives Chris a unique point of view in just about anything that he writes about.

1. What brought you to The Game Fanatics?

Heard from a friend about an open writer position, so this seemed like a perfect way to pursuit something I enjoy in writing while presenting a topic that will always have my interest in video gaming.

2. How long have you been gaming? Favorite system/era?

Parents hooked me up with a Nintendo growing up, so it’s definitely been quite some time that I’ve been gaming, almost 20 years I would say. As far as my favorite era in gaming, I would have to say the time I spent playing the Nintendo 64 would have to be my personal favorite. All that competitive multiplayer gaming over so many great titles. Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, Perfect Dark, Mario Tennis, F-Zero X, Star Fox 64, and all of the wrestling titles released from AKI/THQ accounted for hours and hours of time I should have spent doing homework growing up. The joy I had in those games is a very big part of why I still game today.

3. You reviewed Madden 13 for us. How do you approach reviewing sports games?

Gameplay & Replay Value. Those are the two things I care about most in a sports title. Does the gameplay realistically portray the sport? Is it competitive? Although most importantly, will I want to play someone over and over again to say I’m better? If these things are in order than nine times out of ten, it’s a keeper. Just look at Tecmo Super Bowl, released in 1991 and that game still is a blast.

4. You’re an, as you put it, “aspiring indy wrestler.” How long have you been interested in wrestling? How long have you been involved with the sport?

I have been interested in Pro-Wrestling since my dad showed me Macho-Man Vs Hulk Hogan from Wrestlemania 5 on my 6th birthday, so it has been 23 years of love for the sport. I have been training to be a pro-wrestler for 2 years, and have been an active wrestler for Devil Mountain Wrestling for 1 year.

5. If you could play a game for the first time all over again, what would it be?

Capcom Vs Snk 2: Mark of The Millenium 2001. Playing this game is a reminder of what every fighting game should strive to achieve. Huge cast with amazing gameplay. I rememeber playing this for the first time and thinking this was fighting game perfection. Didn’t think that years later I would still be hoping for the same magic from a game that came out over 10 years ago.
