TGS 2014 | Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Is Coming; Story Changes

Let’s be honest here. If it weren’t for the developers at Koei-Tecmo Games, we wouldn’t have the ever satisfying, hack-and-slash showdown series in Dynasty Warriors. Recently at the Tokyo Game Show 2014, the company has announced a new iteration to the series: Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires. Yay! More hacking and slashing!

Unfortunately, the company is pretty hush-hush about the project. Koei-Tecmo says that they plan to shift the center the entire game to the created characters and strategy. These two elements in Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires critically strays away from the general story of Chinese history and the prominent beings that ran amuck in the Three Kingdoms of China.

It seems that we’re still going to get a lot of hacking, slashing, horse-riding and awesome special attacks that wipe out an entire army. Only it will be our own created characters in the game. Classic, Dynasty Warriors stuff mixed with some freedom.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires won’t be out until around the first few months of next year. The game is also set to appear on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PlayStation 3.
